Chris King Devo Baseplate

Chris King's Devolution Baseplate (crown race), to adapt straight 1 1/8" steerer tube for use on a 1.5 headtube.

Chris King says:

"This is commonly called a crown race. We choose to call it a baseplate as ours is technically not a race. It is the foundation of the venerable Chris King Sealed Bearing headset and is designed as a low cost, sacrificial piece, easily replaced when worn or damaged upon removal. Occasionally, it’s nice to start with a fresh one - here’s where you’ll find them.

We offer baseplates in stainless steel and titanium in 1" and 1 1/8" sizes. Baseplates with undersize bores of up to minus .2mm (-.008") are also available to accommodate non-conforming fork steerer tube mounting dimensions. Please contact our friendly customer service team to ensure the correct sizing for non-conforming fork steerer tube mounting dimensions.

For fork crown and downtube interference issues such as those you may find on 29ers and extra-small size mountain bikes we offer a +5mm baseplate in a stainless steel 1-1/8" size".
