Ant White Retains 24hr Solo Title!

Ant White has just won the coveted Kona 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo race in the USA for the second time in as many years. The gruelling 24hr solo race in Tucson Arizona was won by KCNC supported rider Ant with a total of 18 laps. Some British style weather made the first 5hrs of darkness a little more familiar to Ant than some of his competitors - just the advantage he needed, maintaining his lead to the end! Well done Ant - take some time off to recover!

The Torq Roughride - Sunday, June 12th 2011 www.roughride.co.uk

For 2011 the ninth Roughride is on June 12th, the same weekend as last year. This year the event has a new headline sponsor, Torq (www.torqfitness.co.uk).
The Torq Roughride is a moorland route with less road than any other event in England and Wales. Good relations with local landowners allow the organisers to use miles of tracks not normally open to riders.
This is a wilderness long distance ride for around 1,000 riders, on well flagged ancient routes in the Welsh borders. Everyone is out to enjoy themselves, singly and as a group. The achievement is to finish. The marshalls are there to help you do just that.
The tiny market town of Kington (population 3,000) has the CAMRA county pub of the year, The Tavern, plus 7 more and hosts its town festival on the same weekend. The scenic campsite sits on the edge of Hergest Ridge and overlooks the town and surrounding hills.
The entry fee is the same as last year and includes camping, event tee shirt and post ride meal.
Visit the website www.roughride.co.uk for further details.

New Recon Ti 9 & 10spd MTB Cassettes - Now Available

Ti cassettes have been tried and tested over the past few weeks and we've found them very good! Wearing well, shifting well, light and looking flash! We've been running the 10 speed 11-32T cassette with Shimano shifters and mech, a KMC chain, KCNC double crank - and they've all worked flawlessly. Weighing in around 180g they can save a bit of weight off the rear wheel - and cost a lot less than XX! Better than 9spd? It gives you an extra ratio which is always useful when racing, especially on a double crank!

Click here for 9 speed and 10 speed options.

A staggering result for KCNC sponsored endurance racer Ant White saw him win the 24hr Solo race for the 3rd time - a feat never before seen! Ant rode on his own for the entire 24hrs completing an incredible 24laps to take the victory over 1 lap ahead of second placed David Powell.

Mens Solo Podium.

KCNC are a supporting sponsor of the Marin Roughride this year - a great enduro in the hills of Mid-Wales that is as challenging for elite racers as it is for anyone trying it for the first time! Come and have a go, we'll see you there!

24hr Victory Stateside!

Ant White has just won the coveted Kona 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo race in the USA. The gruelling 24hr solo race in Tucson Arizona was won by KCNC supported rider Ant with a total of 17 laps. Ant came close last year but was hampered by the dust - an unknown problem to UK riders! Well done Ant - outstanding victory!

The TransWales event is a seven-day MTB stage race across Wales, covering some 550 km with 15,500 m of climbing. The event is comprised of seven linking stages (~80 km per day), where the competitors ride from A to B within a given time limit, and four special stages, where the riders tackle a short course (~10 km) against the clock (i.e. a time trial). Clee-Cycles entered three riders this year: Jonathan Pugh in the Men's Solo category, and Andy and Ben Jones in the Men's Team category. An excellent week of riding and racing was had by all, and a 1st place in the Male Solo, and 2nd in the Male Team made it all the more worth while. See the Race Report for more details.

26 August 2008 - Trans-Wales Success

Clee Cycles entered a team and a solo rider in the 2008 Trans-Wales 7 day stage race. The Clee Cycles Team, consisting of Andy and Ben Jones, competed in the Male Open Class and achieved second overall after 7 arduous days of mountain biking and racing in one of the wettest August weeks Wales has managed for 30 years! Joel Shotton, competing in the Solo class, unfortunately experienced a stomach bug and failed to complete 2 of the 7 days. The time penalty incurred placed him 17th overall but he finished strongly with a smile on his face despite what could have been described as days of torture!
Well done boys - and well done to everyone involved in the organisation of the event, and to all the competitors who finished Britain's toughest MTB stage race.
Read the reports of the event on the TransUK website, or on bikemagic.com.
