Hardcoat is Middleburn's own ceramic/PTFE coating that reduces friction and increases wear resistance over normal anodising.

Middleburn say:
Ceramic/PTFE coating - 10 times less friction, reduces chain suck and improves shifting performance. With 4 times the wear resistance of standard anodised chainrings, it reduces wear on the drivetrain. Hardcoat is 5 times thicker than modern coloured anodising.
